The Civil Service Commission (CSC) is pushing for flexible work arrangements (FWAs) in all government agencies in a bid to improve the traffic in Metro Manila initiated by the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority.
In an advisory posted on its official Facebook page on Tuesday, February 20, CSC encourages all government agencies to adopt Memorandum Circular No. 6, s. 2022, which contains policies on flexible work arrangements in the government.
"The Policies on FWAs are established to institutionalize relevant and appropriate work arrangements for government officials and employees to ensure efficient and effective performance of governmental functions and delivery of public services, and to ensure the protection of their health, safety, and welfare at all times," it said.
CSC added that FWAs will allow government officials and employees to manage current or emergent disruption in work as they have "adaptable and responsive work schemes, safe workspaces, and enabling support mechanisms."
Under Memorandum Circular No. 6, s. 2022 released June 6, 2022, government agencies are given six options for their flexible work arrangements.
First is flexible work arrangement which allows an official or employees to either work from home, work from a satellite office, or work from another fixed place.
Government agencies can also adopt compressed workweek, skeleton workforce, work shifting, flexitime, and a combination of flexible work arrangements.
The working hours shall be from 8 AM to 1 PM and from 1 PM to 5 PM on weekdays except holidays.
