The Civil Service Commission (CSC) is considering digitalization as the new system for conducting civil service exams to accommodate more applicants, especially as interest in government jobs continues to grow.
“So, we are now in the process of procuring a new system which we will call the CSC-DEX or digital exams and that will guarantee more slots for those who want to take the Civil Service exams computerized and internet connected,” CSC Chairperson Karlo Nograles said in a Malacañang Insider interview on Wednesday.
Nograles noted that many young graduates are keen on taking the examinations. As a result, the CSC increased the number of exam slots to nearly 700,000-750,000 per year. Despite this expansion, Nograles acknowledged that the available slots are still insufficient to meet the demand.
Nograles revealed that an increasing number of Filipinos are recognizing the benefits of public service and are expressing interest in government careers.
With this in mind, the CSC aims to implement CSC-DEX at all regional and field offices nationwide that have reliable internet access, as the system is internet-based. The goal is to conduct exams from Mondays to Fridays to increase the number of available slots each year.
Through this initiative, an additional 100,000 exam slots are expected to be created.
“From a target of 700 to 750,000 if we add that ang assumption natin is we’re able to add another 100,000. So, we might hit 800 to 850,000 Civil Service exam slots per year with that combination,” Nograles said.
“By increasing the number of eligible we can have better chances of filling up these vacancies in government,” he added.
