The follow-up sequel of the 2018-hit Crazy Rich Asians may be possibly filmed in the Philippines, according to its author
Kevin Kwan.
The acclaimed novelist visited the country in 2022 for the World Travel & Tourism Council Global Summit along with film producer Lawrence Bender. He then shared his love for the archipelago and his desire to create a film set here.
“It’s a country with so many amazing locations, cultures, flavors, and of course, people. This is my fourth trip [here] and it’s always a pleasure to be back. It’s always surprising—I never know what will happen, but it’s always a grand adventure,” Kwan said.
“[Kevin] wrote a script, and it’s like a love letter to the Philippines," Bender revealed.
Crazy Rich Asians tells the story of Rachel Chu, a professor who is Asian American and is played by Constance Wu.
She travels to Singapore with her lover, Nick Young (Henry Golding), for the wedding of his closest friend, and discovers that Nick is a member of one of Singapore’s wealthiest families. Gemma Chan, Lisa Lu, Awkwafina, Ken Jeong, and Michelle Yeoh are also featured in the movie.
