Hospitals in Metro Manila have reported a slight increase in COVID-19 cases in the region over the past week.
In separate advisories, Makati Medical Center and The Medical City said the slight increase reflected in both their inpatients and outpatients, advising the public to remain cautious about respiratory illness.
According to Makati Med, they had to increase the bed capacity in their COVID wing following the increase in the cases.
"Our daily COVID-19 occupancy varies from 50-70%, mostly patients with comorbidities or patients with other serious illnesses who have tested positive for COVID-19. There are no healthcare workers admitted for COVID-19. About 20 HCWs with COVID-19 are on home isolation as of the moment," Makati Med said in a statement.
"Overall, the COVID-19 situation is very manageable," they added.
On the other hand, The Medical City in Pasig said that while most of their cases are mild, the healthcare facility asked the public to work together to prevent the further spread of COVID.
Manila Mayor Honey Lacuna-Pangan, in a live broadcast, said their city logged 28 active COVID cases on May 24 alone.
She also revealed that the city government has no more available vaccines for COVID-19.
