Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao's (BARMM) newly appointed police chief Brig. Gen. Allan Cruz Nobleza directed investigators to intensify efforts to nab other suspects in the ambush of Lanao del Sur Governor Mamintal Adiong Jr. last February 17.
Nobleza promised the BARMM police that they will continue hunting the remaining suspect.
He specifically directed the Special Investigation Task Group to "bring in" Gandawali criminal gang leader Oscar Capal Gandawali, who is allegedly the mastermind of the plot to assassinate the Lanao Sur governor.
Three police escorts and a civilian driver died, while Adiong and another civilian aide were injured.
So far, four suspects have been apprehended, two officers have been killed, and two firearms stolen from the slain officers have been recovered.
Meanwhile, police are looking for gunmen suspected of carrying out separate ambush attacks on Monday in Maguindanao del Sur that killed a village treasurer and a municipal worker.
Mayor Reynalbert Insular of South Upi, Maguindanao del Sur, said he has already directed municipal police officers to collaborate with the Army's 57th Infantry Battalion in tracking down the gunmen who assassinated Robis Batitao, a municipal job order worker.
At around 10 a.m., Batitao was riding a motorcycle. when they were ambushed by unknown gunmen in Barangay Pandan, South Upi, and died instantly.
Around 3 p.m. on the same day, unidentified gunmen on a motorcycle shot and killed Amerodin Ugka, treasurer of Barangay Inug-og in Pagalungan, as he was riding home.
Police discovered empty .45 caliber shells at the ambush site in Barangay Bulit, Datu Montawal town.
No one has claimed responsibility for the attack, according to Datu Montawal Municipal Police Chief Capt. Nurjhasier Sali.
One of the possible motives being considered by investigators is "rido" (family feud).
