Negros Oriental 3rd District Rep. Arnolfo "Arnie" Teves Jr. is being considered as one of the masterminds behind the murder of former Negros Oriental governor Roel Degamo, Justice Secretary Jesus Crispin 'Boying' Remulla disclosed on Monday, March 27.

In a press briefing, Remulla said the sworn statements of arrested suspects' all points to Teves.

"I think they are being considered as masterminds but I don't know it yet, I have to get fact straight from the panel of prosecutors," he said.

"But right now, the way it is progressing, that's the direction we are heading to," Remulla added.

The Justice chief also revealed that there are three to four masterminds in the Degamo slay case.

Meanwhile, in an interview during DZRH's BreakTime, Remulla said "everything is leading" to Teves and his organization.

"The panel of prosecutors will be the one who will evaluate all the evidence. Ang sa akin lang, based on what I've seen, what I know right now, my talks with the people, and my reading of affidavit, mukhang doon talaga papunta ang imbestigasyon na ito," he added.

Remulla also said that Teves' brother Henry Pryde is also under investigation as he noted that they are "not leaving anyone who may have been involved."

Just last week, authorities seized several firearms and explosives in Henry's sugar mill compound but authorities have yet to confirm if this has a connection to Degamo's murder.

The House of Representatives slapped the Negros Congressman with a 60-day preventive suspension due to his prolonged absence from his duty despite the nonvalidity of his travel clearance.

Apart from the Degamo's slay case, Teves is facing multiple murders for the killings perpetuated in Negros Oriental back in 2019.
