The Commission on Elections will begin its ‘Operation Baklas’ campaign to remove the illegal campaign materials of the candidates for the Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan Elections (BSKE).

According to Comelec Chairman George Garcia, the target of their operation is to take off the posters of BSKE candidates that are seen hanging on poles and houses even without "vote" written on them, as these posters are signs of early campaigning.

Moreover, the Comelec also warned the candidates that campaigning on social media is also a violation of election procedure.

It also mentioned that the campaign period for the BSKE will run from October 19 to 28.

Meanwhile, a total of 1,414,487 candidates filed their certificates of candidacy for the October 30 election.
