The Commission on Elections (COMELEC) will ask Senator Rodante Marcoleta to explain his alleged inaccurate disclosure of campaign contributions in his Statement of Contributions and Expenditures (SOCE) for the 2025 elections, poll chairperson George Erwin Garcia confirmed on Wednesday, November 19.

In an interview, Garcia said that a show cause order (SCO) is set to be issued to the senator next week.

He also noted that discrepancies were found between Marcoleta’s SOCE and his Statement of Assets, Liabilities, and Net Worth (SALN).

According to data, the SOCE reported campaign expenditures of around ₱112 million, significantly higher than the ₱51 million declared in Marcoleta’s Statement of Assets, Liabilities, and Net Worth (SALN).

Garcia emphasized that all donors and sources of contributions must be clearly listed in the SOCE, and anonymous donors are not allowed.

In a previous interview, Marcoleta admitted that some campaign contributions were not included in his SOCE, explaining that some donors requested to remain anonymous.

The order aims to clarify the source of certain donations and identify the individuals or entities behind them.

RH Boy Gonzales reported, COMELEC warned that if it is proven that the SOCE contains false information, Marcoleta could face charges of perjury or violations of election law.
