A candidate running for barangay chairman in Brgy. Bucot in Aliaga, Nueva Ecija was ordered to pull out his campaign jingle for the upcoming Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan Elections (BSKE) 2023 due to the controversial lyrics.

A copy of Jose 'Pepe' Pacheco's one-page letter addressed to Commission on Election (Comelec) Aliaga, Nueva Ecija was obtained by DZRH.

Based on the letter dated Oct. 23, Pacheco expressed his "regret" for the campaign jingle.

"In reference to your phone call warning the undersigned regarding the election campaign song promoting my candidacy in our Barangay, it is with full regret that the song was written and produced not in accordance with the suggested standard of the Honorable Commission on Election," he said.

The BSKE aspirant said the campaign jingle "was pulled out of Facebook and other social media [platforms] to prevent further spread of the content[,] including the one that was uploaded by the author himself who created the campaign material."

Pacheco apologized to the poll body for his behavior, and he assured that the campaign jingle "would never used anymore" until the end of the 10-day campaign period.

The campaign jingle, written by Apet Cruz, has lyrics of "Barangay Bucot, tayo nang magkaisa.

The campaign jinggle is still posted in some Facebook pages.

In an exclusive interview with RH Grace Sansano, Pacheco said the jingle would be revised.
