The Commission on Elections (COMELEC) has suspended the filing of Certificates of Candidacy (COC) for the 2026 Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) parliamentary elections.
In a press statement dated December 22, 2025, COMELEC stated the suspension covers the scheduled COC filing for the March 30, 2026, BARMM parliamentary polls. The move follows the deferment of the filing period pending the enactment of a parliamentary districting law by the Bangsamoro Transition Authority (BTA).
Under Resolution No. 11183, the poll body noted that while the Supreme Court had directed the BTA to finalize parliamentary districts by October 30, 2025, no districting law has yet been enacted. As a result, COMELEC deemed it necessary to suspend the COC filing to ensure the election process aligns with finalized parliamentary districts.
COMELEC said a new filing schedule will be announced once the required parliamentary districting law is passed by the BTA.
