The Commission on Elections (Comelec) begins its pilot mall voting for Barangay, Sangguniang Kabataan Elections (BSKE), tapping select SM Supermalls and Robinsons Malls to hold as mall voting sites.
Comelec assigned registered voters of certain barangays in eight malls around Metro Manila, one in Cebu and one in Albay, as a way to prioritize the comfort of senior citizens when casting their votes.
Meanwhile, registered voters lauded the pilot testing in malls since it was more convenient compared to doing it inside schools.
“Maaliwalas, bakit? Kasi nararamdaman namin ang lamig ng mall. Hindi kagaya sa eskuwelahan [kung saan] hindi lang lamig ang mararamdaman mo [kundi] sipon, gutom, at iba pang mararamdaman ng katawan katulad naming mga senior citizen ng Pasig City,” a senior registered voter said while lining up in a mall poll site.
