The Commission on Elections (COMELEC) has put security measures in place ahead of the filing of Certificates of Candidacy (COC) for the upcoming 2025 national and local elections.
COMELEC Chairman George Erwin Garcia announced that the COC filing will take place from October 1 to October 8, 2024, at the Tent City of Manila Hotel, where candidates for senator and party-list representatives are expected to submit their candidacies.
To ensure order and safety during the event, nearly 400 police officers will be deployed to guard the perimeter of the Manila Hotel.
In addition to police forces, security will be bolstered by force multipliers who will assist in traffic management and maintain overall peace and order in the area.
The COMELEC has also coordinated with the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP), Philippine Coast Guard, and Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) to ensure security at other local offices nationwide where COC filings will also take place.
