The Commission on Election (Comelec) has issued show cause orders to more than 5,000 aspiring candidates for the Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan (BSKE) 2023.
Based on Comelec Task Force Anti-Epal’s latest data posted on Oct. 6, a total of 5,169 individuals had received show cause orders over alleged election violations.
Of the number, 1,132 have so far submitted their responses to the poll body.
The Comelec’s task force said 82 aspiring BSKE bets are facing disqualification (DQ) cases, while 203 individuals may also possibly face DQ cases.
Meanwhile, 347 complaints filed against BSKE bets were dropped due to a lack of factual basis.
The upcoming BSKE is slated for Oct. 30.
All BSKE candidates nationwide will have to execute their election campaigns from Oct. 18 until Oct. 28.
Election campaigning as well as selling and drinking liquor are prohibited from Oct. 29 to Oct. 30.
