The Commission on Elections (COMELEC) granted the request of former Bamban, Tarlac Mayor Alice Guo for a 10-day extension to submit a counter-affidavit on the material representation case against her.
The poll body moved the deadline from August 22 to September 1.
"Ayaw natin maging mahigpit.
However, Garcia warned that COMELEC will reject the counter-affidavit of Guo if her camp fails to prove that she appeared and took an oath before a notary public.
So hintayin natin kung makapag file sila on time sa kanilang deadline matapos nilang humingi ng extension," Garcia said.
Guo faces a material misrepresentation case for alleged false claims in her certificate of candidacy during the 2022 elections.
