The Commission on Elections (COMELEC) clarified on Monday that the circulating graphic claiming the national and local elections have been moved to May 10, 2025, is fake news.
In an advisory posted on their Facebook page, the poll body clarified that the said graphic did not originate from their office and was not posted on the official and verified social media channels of the COMELEC.
COMELEC further reiterated that the National and Local Elections will be held on May 12, 2025, from 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM.
"Ang National and Local Elections ay sa May 12, 2025, mula 7:00 am hanggang 7:00 pm," the advisory read.
"Meron ding Early Voting Hours para sa Senior Citizens, Persons with Disability at Pregnant Voters mula 5:00 AM hanggang 7:00 AM," it added.
Ultimately, the COMELEC reminded the public that spreading false or alarming information is considered an election offense under Section 261(z)(11) of the Omnibus Election Code.
The poll body emphasized the importance of consulting official COMELEC channels to prevent the spread of misleading or false election-related information.
