The Commission on Elections (COMELEC) has gotten the nationwide demonstration of the newly-acquired Automated Counting Machines (ACM) underway.
The Miru ACMs, purchased for the 2025 midterm elections, were exhibited in roadshows which began Monday, December 2. A demonstration led by COMELEC Chief George Erwin Garcia was held at the Manila High School in Intramuros, to which registered voters from four barangays within the district attended; another at the agency’s head office in the Palacio del Gobernador, where COMELEC division heads ran the poll machines.
Garcia said the ACM demonstrations are taking place all over the country, all at once, and that about 2,000 ACMs are being used for them.
He recommended making a “kodigo” or a list of candidates to vote for before entering the polls.
“Bago tayo pumunta sa presinto sa darating na halalan, meron na tayong mga kodigo. Maganda po maglista na lang tayo, pagdating sa presinto mag-she-shade na lang tayo,” Garcia said.
(Before we go to the precinct in the upcoming election, we should have a “cheat sheet.” It would be great if we could just list down the candidates to vote for, so when we arrive at the precinct, all we have to do is shade.)
The elections chair also reminded the public not to exceed a vote count of 12 senators and 1 partylist, as doing so would invalidate one’s vote for said positions.
