The Commission on Elections (Comelec) is expecting at least two million new voters before the Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan Elections (BSKE) next year.
According to Comelec spokesperson John Rex Laudiangco, they expect Filipinos to register as regular and youth voters during the voter registration period which resumed today, December 12.
In an interview, Laudiangco said they had already received three million new applications on the last voter registration in July.
He added that the figures include an estimated one million regular voters and one million youth voters.
Meanwhile, the first day of the resumption of voter registration resulted in a good turnout, Laudiangco said.
Comelec urges Filipinos to register before the final days of registration.
A total of 2,936,979 new voters nationwide registered during the July 4 to 23 registration period.
The registration period will run until January 3 this year.
