A college teacher from the University of Cebu (UC) has left after facing an investigation over his disturbing comment about mental health, the university announced on March 18.

According to the University's President Candice Gotianuy, the said college teacher is no longer connected with UC, saying that the faculty agreed that his actions are “absolutely unacceptable,” adding that they are conducting an investigation regarding the case and debriefing the students and teachers who were affected.

For now, counseling has been conducted on UC’s Banilad campus, which started on Monday, rebuilding a safe place for the students and suspending some classes for the affected to give them space and time to heal.

It was last week when a video of a college teacher, who was a clinical instructor at the College of Nursing at UC Banilad, left harmful remarks about self-harm, triggering some students.

Based on the statements of several students who shared the incident on social media, the teacher made comments about mental health during one of his classes.

An investigation was conducted after netizens encouraged the university to take action against the teacher.
