One individual was reportedly hurt while eight houses were wrecked after a wall suddenly collapsed in S. Feliciano St., Brgy. Mapulang Lupa in Valenzuela City, on Sunday, September 4.
In its situational report, the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) Valenzuela City said the injured individual was immediately brought to Valenzuela General Hospital for medication.
Meanwhile, in its latest update, the local government unit (LGU) of Valenzuela said a total of 113 individuals or 28 families was affected by the incident and have been displaced in two evacuation centers.
About 70 individuals or 17 families are now taking temporary shelter in Mapulang Lupa 3S Center.
At least 43 individuals or 11 families are staying in Old Barangay Hall, Ugong.
Citing the results of the rapid visual assessment and analysis conducted by the Office of the Building Official, the Valenzuela LGU said the earth and water pressure led to the structural collapse in the area.
The pressure was primarily caused by the soil that got saturated amidst the continuous heavy rainfall over the weekend.
"Our City Social Welfare and Development Office personnel are now on site, assessing and assisting the evacuees together with the City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office and the City Engineering Office," the Valenzuela LGU said.
