Retired University of the Philippines (UP) professor Clarita Carlos and former ABONO party-list Representative Conrado Estrella III have joined the Cabinet of President-elect Ferdinand Marcos, Jr.
In a statement, the Marcos camp announced that Carlos was chosen to be the National Security Adviser, while Estrella is the next Secretary of the Department of Agrarian Reform.
Vic Rodriguez, the incoming executive secretary, said in a statement that the two officials have already accepted the posts following a "nearly two-hour meeting" held on Wednesday at the Marcos headquarters in Mandaluyong City.
Carlos is a retired political science professor in UP, who was also the first female, civilian president of the National Defense College of the Philippines, according to the National Research Council of the Philippines.
Meanwhile, Estrella was a deputy speaker under the 18 Congress. He is also the representative of ABONO party-list, an organization advocating for agriculture.
His grandfather, Conrado Estrella Sr., was also the former agrarian reform secretary under administration of late dictator Ferdinand Marcos Sr.
