The Cybercrime Investigation and Coordinating Center (CICC) is currently conducting an investigation into a social media post featuring a campaign poster of former Interior Secretary Benjamin "Benhur" Abalos Jr. that reportedly used a 'cheapfake' of the photo.

Based on the image circulating on social media, Abalos' slogan "KALABAN NG KRIMINAL, BENHUR ABALOS" was edited to read "KALABAN AT KRIMINAL, BENHUR ABALOS."

The poster went viral after several netizens criticized the graphics, pointing out that the preposition "NG" was too small to notice, leading some to read it as "KALABAN KRIMINAL, BENHUR ABALOS."

Earlier this week, former national security adviser Clarita Carlos commented on a tarpaulin posted on a footbridge in Metro Manila.

"To my good friend and former partner at NTF-ELCAC: please ask your graphic artist to make the PREPOSITION more visible," she wrote on Facebook, referring to the National Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict.

"If you get my drift… hahaha!" Carlos added.

Abalos filed his certificate of candidacy (COC) for senator on October 7, a day before the COC filing ended.
