

The veteran sports journalists Manolo "Chino" Trinidad passed away on Saturday, evening. He was 56. His daughter, Floresse confirmed to GMA Network.
“Chino Trinidad, a passionate member of the media and sports community, has passed away last night, July 13, 2024,” his family wrote. “Known to many through his storytelling, he never stopped sharing the greatness of Filipinos. He was a loving husband and a supportive father. He will be truly missed," Trinidad's family said in a statement on Sunday morning.
Trinidad was a former sports broadcaster and columnist.
For a decade until 2010, he also worked as the commissioner of the defunct Philippine Basketball League (PBL).
Last year, Trinidad ran for chairman of the Games and Amusement Board. He spearheaded the formation of the Samahang Basketball ng Pilipinas, which revived the country’s presence in the international stage.
After the PBL collapsed in 2011, Trinidad resumed broadcasting, primarily covering Manny Pacquiao bouts.
Prior to his demise Trinidad worked at DZME where he was loved and respected by his coworkers for his candid reporting and sassy commentary.
