MANILA – The Chinese Embassy in the Philippines is positive on what it calls “fresh progress” made in Philippine-China law enforcement cooperation against illegal Philippine offshore gaming operators (POGO) in the country.
In a statement by the Embassy posted on X (formerly Twitter), it mentioned the deportation of 36 POGO-employed Chinese nationals after a raid was conducted on RIVENDELL Global Gaming Corporation, led by the Philippine Presidential Anti-Organized Crime Commission (PAOCC).
According to the Chinese Embassy, upon the request of PAOCC, they quickly verified the identity of the Chinese nationals among the employees and promptly issued them their travel documents.
The first batch were deported last September 22 consisting of 75 Chinese nationals.
The Embassy emphasized that the latest deportation is a step in Philippine-China law enforcement cooperation against POGOs and that it will continue to support the endeavour “to safeguard a healthy social economic and people-to-people exchanges between the two countries.”
