American singer-songwriter Charlie Puth took to social media on Wednesday to express his deep sadness over the passing of his friend, Liam Payne.
"I am in shock right now. Liam was always so kind to me. He was one of the first major artists I got to work with. I can not believe he is gone...,"Puth wrote in an Instagram story.
The story was followed by a fond memory of Payne giving Puth a shirt printed with Payne's picture.
"I am so upset right now, may he rest in peace," Puth wrote.
Puth also shared a photo of himself with the former One Direction star.
In 2017, Puth co-wrote Payne's single "Bedroom Floor."
On Wednesday, the British musician was found dead after falling from the third floor of a hotel in Buenos Aires, Argentina.
Reports indicated that Payne may have been under the influence of drugs and alcohol.
He was 31 years old.
