The Regional Tripartite Wages and Productivity Board (RTWPD) - Central Visayas has approved the ₱33 increase in the minimum wage for workers in the private sector, the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) announced on Wednesday, September 13.
In a press release, DOLE said the approved hike will push the minimum wages to as follows:
Non-Agriculture Establishments
- Class A - ₱468
- Class B - ₱430
- Class C - ₱420
Agriculture and Non-Agriculture Establishments with less than 10 Workers
- Class A - ₱458
- Class B - ₱425
- Class C - ₱415
According to the labor department, the ₱33 wage increase will take effect on October 1, 15 days after the wage order is published on September 15.
The wage hike is expected to benefit a total of 346,946 minimum wage earners and 399,572 full-time wage and salary workers in Central Visayas.
"The new rates translate to a 7.6%-8.6% increase from the prevailing daily minimum wage rates in the region and result in a comparable 23% increase in wage-related benefits covering 13th-month pay, service incentive leave (SIL), and social security benefits such as SSS, PhilHealth and Pag-IBIG," DOLE noted.
