The last PH bet competing and two-time ASEAN Para games gold medalist, nailed a distance of 15.05 meters in her first attempt, recording a new personal best.
The Filipina athlete was unable to match or exceed that distance in her subsequent five attempts.
Uzbekistan's Nurkhon Kurbanova set a new world record with a throw of 21.12 meters clinching gold, while Nigeria's Flora Ugwunwa claimed silver with a distance of 19.26 meters. Iran's Elham Salehi secured bronze with a throw of 16.24 meters.
Filipina para swimmer Angel Otom ended her Paralympics debut with a 5th and 6th place finish in women's 50 meters butterfly - S5 and 50m backstroke - S5 finals respectively.
Ernie Gawilan, another Philippine para swimmer, finished in 6th place in the men’s 400m freestyle S7 finals.
Furthermore, Filipino wheelchair racer Jerrold Mangliwan secured eighth place in the men’s 400-meter T52 event.
Filipina para archer Agustina Bantiloc kicked off the country’s Paralympics campaign with a strong performance, setting her best mark of the season, even though she finished last in the women’s individual compound open ranking round.
The Philippines returned home without a medal, with Asusano being the sixth and final Filipino Paralympian to compete at the 2024 Paris Games.
