The Boston Celtics earned the first win in the 2024 NBA Finals after dominating the Dallas Mavericks, 107-89, on Thursday, June 6.

Jaylen Brown scored 22 and Kristaps Prozingis added 20 points for the Celtics to win Game One in the best-of-seven title series.

Boston never trailed after back-to-back three point baskets by Jayson Tatum, Porzingiz, and Hauser put the NBA Eastern Conference champions up, 37-20, at the end of the first quarter.

The lead of the Celtics went up to as high as 29-points, 48-29, following a 10-point rally in the second period

A three-point basket by Luka Doncic allowed the Mavericks to close the gap, 72-64, but Boston responded with a 15-point scoring run to keep Dallas at bay.

Doncic finished with 30 points and 10 rebounds, while PJ Washington registered 14 points for the Mavericks that will seek to avoid a 2-0 hole in Game Two
