Celeste Cortesi has chaneled the iconic and legendary Filipina superhero "Darna" as her national costume during the Miss Universe 2022 National Costume competition on Thursday.
The beauty queen walked down the runway like a real-life superhero in a fiery red Darna outfit, which showed off her tight abs and toned legs, made by renowned designer Oliver Tolentino.
Her headpiece and some metalwork accessories were made by Jerome Navarro.
Celeste completed her look with a red knee-high leather boots and red arm bands.
"Darna is the ultimate Filipina superhero and part of this country's pop culture. She transforms from an ordinary woman with the help of a white stone, standing up for those who cannot defend themselves. Have no fear 'cause Darna is here in the Philippines," the voice over was heard as Celeste confidently struts the stage.
The Miss Universe Philippines Facebook page shared a clip of Celeste while donning her national costume.
The National Costume followed right after the preliminary show today in New Orleans, Louisiana.
During the swimsuit prelims, Celeste walked down the catwalk wearing a hot pink bikini along with a symbolic white cape with hand prints that highlighted her experience in "visiting the youth and their families during the Save the Children Philippines outreach in Marawi."
For her long gown, the Filipina-Italian looked celestial in her sky blue gown which was inspired by a poem written by her dad.
The 71st Miss Universe grand coronation night is set on January 14 at the New Orleans Morial Convention Center in Louisiana. Celeste is vying to take home the country's 5th crown.
