In the wake of a recent standoff between the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) and the Chinese Coast Guard (CCG), the CCG accused Philippine ships of attempting to breach the territorial waters of Huangyan Island.
According to China Coast Guard spokesperson Liu Dejun, on December 4, Philippine Coast Guard ships 9701 and 4409, along with public service ships 3002 and 3003, attempted to breach China’s territorial waters in the vicinity of Huangyan Island.
These vessels were reported to have dangerously approached Chinese law enforcement patrol ships.
"China has exercised control over them in accordance with the law," Liu Dejun said in a statement on Wednesday.

Meanwhile, PCG spokesperson Jay Tarriela reported that several CCG vessels, including CCG 5303, 3302, 3104, and 3304, along with People's Liberation Army Navy vessels 500 and 571, carried out "aggressive actions."
CCG 3302 fired a water cannon at the BRP Datu Pagbuaya (MMOV 3003), targeting its navigational antennas while the vessel was 16 nautical miles south of Bajo de Masinloc in the West Philippine Sea.
The PCG has repeatedly encountered harassment from the CCG and the Chinese Maritime Militia in relation to China's claim over the "nine-dash line."
