The Catholic Bishops’ Conference of the Philippines (CBCP) has joined in the petition for the government to announce a climate emergency.
The Caritas Philippines executive secretary Fr. Antonio Labiao petitions for the government to address the effects of climate change.
According to Labiao, they call for a swift transition to a low-carbon economy, the protection of natural habitats and ecosystems, and the adoption of just, pro-people, and sustainable economic development practices across all sectors
They encourage everyone to call and raise their voices to the leaders for the dignity of our common home and for the welfare of future generations.
The CBCP-Episcopal Commission on Health Care (ECHE), CBCP-Office on Women, Council of Laity of the Philippines, Social Action Centers of Dioceses and Vicariates, Caritas offices, and Catholic schools also support the petition of the CBCP.
