Pablito Tagura, the country's newest bishop, will be consecrated as an episcopal leader next month at the Christ the King Mission Seminary in Quezon City.

The celebration would take place at the seminary where he is the present rector on February 17, according to a report published on the Catholic Bishops' Conference of the Philippines' (CBCP) news page on Wednesday.

The pro-prefect of the Vatican's Dicastery for Evangelization, Cardinal Luis Antonio Tagle, will consecrate the bishop-elect for the Apostolic Vicariate of San Jose in the province of Occidental Mindoro.

Moreover, the mission areas under the dicastery of the cardinal include apostolic vicariates and prelatures.

At the episcopal ordination, a number of bishops, priests, consecrated people, and laypeople are anticipated.

Pope Francis nominated Tagura, a member of the Society of Divine Word, as the third bishop of the vicariate in December 2022.

On February 24, Archbishop Charles Brown, the Apostolic Nuncio to the Philippines, will formally install Tagura in his ecclesiastical position, seven days following his episcopal ordination.

Bishop Antonio Palang, who oversaw the vicariate until he resigned in March 2018 and passed away three years later, was previously in charge.
