Senatorial aspirant Alan Peter Cayetano on Thursday said the next administration should continue President Rodrigo Duterte's "Build, Build, Build" program and his war against illegal drugs.
Cayetano, however, noted that some adjustments to these projects may be necessary.
"I think everyone agrees naman na 'yung 'Build, Build, Build' ituloy 'yan, everyone agrees na 'yung anti-drugs ituloy pero ayusin nang konti kasi dapat wala talagang killings o extra-judicial killings. Dapat talaga may rehab," the lawmaker said in an interview with DZRH.
(I think everyone agrees that the “Build, Build, Build” needs to be continued, everyone agrees that the anti-drugs should be continued, but it needs to be slightly fixed to assure that there would be no more killings or extra-judicial killings. There should be rehab.)
For the "Build, Build, Build," Cayetano said the project should also include the establishment of more hospitals and more schools, especially amid COVID-19.
"Build more outside Metro Manila. Hindi panay Metro Manila," he said.
(Build more outside Metro Manila. It shouldn’t be always in Metro Manila.)
Cayetano also praised Duterte's move to prioritize overseas Filipino workers, which recently saw the establishment of a whole new department dedicated to them, as well as the "gains" of the administration on tourism.
"So marami pong dapat ipagpatuloy pero maraming adjustments ang pwedeng gawin, based on the lessons that we've learned in the last five years," he said.
(So there are a lot that needs to be continued but there are also a lot of adjustments that could be done, based on the lessons that we’ve learned in the last five years.)
"Maraming dapat ipagpatuloy pero dapat himayin, pano mo 'to ipagpapatuloy and how do you make it work," he added.
(There are a lot that needs to be continued but it needs further inspection on how it could be continued and how could they make it work.)
Cayetano, who is currently the representative of Taguig–Pateros's 1st district, is eyeing a Senate comeback in the May elections.
