Miss Universe 2018 Catriona Gray's wax figure in Madame Tussauds Singapore has been finally unveiled to the public after its launch was postponed multiple times due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Gray was present at the wax figure’s launch in Singapore, as seen on a live-streamed event on the museum’s Facebook page today, March 30.
The wax figure follows Gray's winning look in the Miss Universe 2018 pageant, complete with the Philippine sash, accessories, her spare shoes, and a replica of the red lava gown by local designer Mak Tumang.
"The idea was conceptualized mid-reign, so there was no winning look yet," Gray said during the launch event, which was streamed live at Madame Tussauds Singapore's Facebook page.
This makes Gray the first Filipina to have a wax figure in Madame Tussauds Singapore.
The beauty queen is also the third Filipino to be handpicked by Madame Tussauds after Miss Universe 2015 Pia Wurtzbach and boxing icon Manny Pacquiao.
"To represent the Pinoy elevated to the global stage, it's really something that brings me so much pride. Hopefully, in the future, there will be more Filipinos represented within the halls of Madame Tussauds," she added.
Gray’s wax figure can be seen at the museum’s TV and films zone until September 2022. It also has an interactive section where visitors can learn how to do Gray’s “lava walk.”
The museum first revealed that Gray would be featured in a wax figure in January 2020, on the beauty queen’s 26th birthday.
