Carlos Yulo showcased resilience and skill during the men's all-around finale in artistic gymnastics at the Paris 2024 Olympics, finishing at 12th place despite a challenging start.
The Filipino gymnast faced a setback with an early fall on the pommel horse, scoring 11.900, which temporarily dropped him to the bottom of the 24-man field. However, Yulo rebounded effectively throughout the competition, showing determination and skill.
In his final rotation, Yulo delivered a strong performance on the floor exercise, scoring 14.333 with an upgraded routine. His total score for the final was 83.032.
“Okay lang,” Yulo commented twice, clapping after giving his all in the floor exercise.
Yulo also excelled in the vault, where he demonstrated impressive form with a 14.766 score and a difficulty rating of 6.000, tying for the third-highest score and gaining momentum for the upcoming apparatus finals.
His parallel bars routine earned him a 14.500, boosting him to 12th place before his final two rotations. On the rings, Yulo achieved a 13.933 with a difficulty rating of 5.600, and he capped off his all-around performance with a solid 13.600 on the horizontal bar, opting for a lower difficulty level.
Looking ahead, Yulo’s strong vault performance has set him up well for the individual apparatus finals, where he will compete in one of his specialty events on Sunday.
