Carlos Yulo has clinched a spot in the upcoming World Artistic Gymnastics Championships by capturing the silver medal in the men's individual all-around event at the Asian Artistic Gymnastics Championships in Singapore.

Yulo, who settled for second place for the second consecutive time, earned a total of 85.930 points in the all-around competition.

The gold medal was claimed by Japan's Shinnosuke Oka, who topped the tournament with 86.065 points, while another Japanese gymnast, Takeru Kitazono, secured the bronze with 85.431 points.

With his strong performance, the 23-year-old Filipino gymnast secured his qualification for the World Championships in Belgium, which serves as the qualifying event for the 2024 Paris Olympics.

Yulo will also vie for medals in the apparatus finals on Saturday after dominating the qualifiers in the parallel bars, floor exercise, and vault.

He placed second in the rings and even secured a place in the horizontal bar medal round, despite finishing ninth in the qualification.

However, Yulo faced challenges in the pommel horse event, finishing 16th with 13.266 points.

The Philippine gymnastics team, comprised of Yulo, Juancho Miguel Besana, Ivan Cruz, Justine Ace de Leon, and Jann Gwynn Timbang, achieved a commendable seventh-place finish with a total of 237.193 points.

China claimed the team all-around gold with an impressive score of 256.762 points, followed closely by Japan with 256.694 points and Kazakhstan with 246.828 points.

Besana showcased his skills across six apparatuses, securing the 28th position with 73.531 points. De Leon attained a score of 62.565 points, placing 41st overall, while Cruz (50.533) finished 49th position and Timbang (34.533) at 63rd.
