A Canadian woman was arrested Tuesday at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport in Pasay City for allegedly possessing 7.15 kilos of shabu worth P48.62 million.
Wendy Jane Marais, 64, was apprehended during an interdiction operation at the Customs International Arrival Area, according to a report from the Police Drug Enforcement Group.
Marais was arrested when airport officials discovered suspicious materials in her luggage.
The foreigner came out to be in possession of shabu, which she concealed in makeshift chocolate packets.
The drugs were intercepted by Bureau of Customs (BOC) officials working in collaboration with the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency and the NAIA Inter-Agency Drug Interdiction Task Group.
Acting BOC-NAIA district collector Yasmin Mapa stated that the bureau remains dedicated to its anti-drug campaign in accordance with Customs Commissioner Bienvenido Rubio's directive.
The suspect is being kept in custody on narcotics allegations.
