The province of Cagayan has been placed under state of calamity due to the aftermath of Typhoon Egay.
The decision comes following the recommendation of the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction Management Council (PDRRMC), the Cagayan Provincial Information Office said in a Facebook post.
Despite exiting the Philippine Area of Responsibility )PAR) last week, Typhoon Egay has caused devastations in several areas in Cagayan and other provinces.
Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal No. 4 was raised over parts of Cagayan on Wednesday as Typhoon Egay first made landfall over Fuga Island in the municipality of Aparri.
Governor Manuel Mamba said an estimated PHP 1.4 billion worth of damages in property and livestock in Cagayan province were reported.
Latest data from the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) said the death toll due to Egay has rose to 25, with over 2 million individuals affected.
Displaced residents also went up from 30,158 to 312,995—50,987 of them are outside evacuation centers (ECs), while 262,008 are currently in ECs located in Regions 1 (Ilocos), 2 (Cagayan Valley), 3 (Central Luzon), Mimaropa (Mindoro Oriental and Occidental, Marinduque, Romblon, and Palawan), Calabarzon (Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal, and Quezon), and Region 6 (Western Visayas).
