The two-seater Cessna plane 152 aircraft is still missing as authorities only located its crash site, the Cagayan Provincial Information Office (PIO) said on Wednesday.
In a statement, Cagayan PIO said the Philippine Army - 17th Infantry Battalion Commanding Officer Lt. Col. Oliver Logan clarified that his personnel did not find the Cessna 152 within the Brgy. Salvacion, Luna, and San Mariano in Apayao Province when they conducted a search and rescue operation.
"Ito ay taliwas sa unang pahayag ni Apayao Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Officer Jeoffrey Boromeo na may sighting na sa nawawalang eroplano sa nasabing lugar," it said.
The Philippine Army officials also did not find the remains of the two passengers who were reportedly dead.
"Una rito ay inihayag ng PDRRMO Apayao na tukoy na ang lugar na binagsakan eroplano at natagpuang wala nang buhay ang dalawang piloto nito," the Cagayan PIO said.
According to the communication office, there is a possibility that the Cessna plan may have gone to the mountainous part near Pudtol area.
On August 1, the Cessna 152 aircraft with body number RP-C8598 was reportedly missing.
The Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) said the aircraft, coming from Laoag City airport in Ilocos, failed to reach Tuguegarao City airport at its expected arrival time.
The two passengers were earlier identified as pilot instructor Capt. Edzel John Lumbao Tabuzo and Indian student pilot Anshum Rajkumar Konde.
