The Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) has provided an update on Wednesday, July 26, regarding the state of the numerous airports it manages in Northern Luzon as Typhoon Egay maintained its strength.

According to CAAP’s report, Laoag International Airport's flight operations have been suspended due to bad weather. But it noted that once the weather permits, the airport will be reopened by the afternoon.

The agency said that the domestic pre-departure area at Laoag Airport is temporarily being replaced by the international pre-departure area because it "will need repair after incurring partial damage to its ceiling and doors."

CAAP said that Vigan Airport incurred minimal damage to its facilities, while Lingayen Airport's ramp in Pangasinan is flooded due to heavy rainfall.

"Part of the roof (fascia board) of the airport's fire station was also damaged due to strong winds," the agency said.

Meanwhile, Baguio Airport, Rosales Airport, and San Fernando Tower Facility have no damage, according to the report.

It has also been noted that Tuguegarao Airport continues to experience strong winds and rain, which have halted its flight operations for the day as commercial electricity has been down. However, no major damage has been observed.

"Minor flooding at the airport's taxiway has been reported," it said.

Strong winds and rains are still present at Basco Airport, Cauayan Airport, and Palanan Airport.

"The airports reported no damage to their facilities, and commercial electricity remains available," CAAP said.

The agency said San Jose Airport's Cebgo flights to and from Manila have been cancelled, affecting a total of 155 passengers.

It also said that Iba Airport continues to experience strong winds and rain, but has reported no damage to its facilities.

"CAAP reminds passengers to prioritize their safety and cooperate with airport and airline authorities during this weather disturbance. Travelers are advised to contact their respective airlines for any changes to their flight schedules, alternative arrangements, or further information," the agency said.

"CAAP Area Center personnel and airport managers are closely monitoring the situation and are advised to provide timely updates as necessary," it added.
