The Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) has released a Notice to Airmen (NOTAM) regarding flights passing near Mt. Bulusan in Sorsogon province, Bicol region.

In view of Mt. Bulusan’s eruption early Monday morning, CAAP advises against flying within 21,000 feet from ground level near the volcano to steer clear of potential hazards from chance eruptions.

The NOTAM has been in effect since 8:29 AM today, April 28, and will remain in force until 4:36 AM on April 29.

The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS) has raised Bulusan Volcano’s alert status to Alert Level 1 (Low-level Unrest), predicting possible succeeding phreatic eruptions.
