An official said Wednesday that anti-narcotics police operations from January to March 13 this year have resulted in the arrest of 51 drug suspects and the seizure of over PHP 2.2 million in shabu.
According to Col. Marco Archinue, city police director, at least 43 police operations were conducted with the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency in the Caraga Region during the period, which also targeted 21 high-value individuals (HVIs) involved in the illegal drug trade.
At least three buy-bust operations and search warrant operations resulted in the seizure of 330.6 grams of shabu worth more than PHP 2.2 million.
On March 10, an HVI identified as Ronil Burdeos was arrested in Barangay Lumbocan here in one of the most recent buy-busts.
Burdeos was apprehended with 10 grams of shabu worth PHP68,000.
On the same day, police apprehended another drug suspect, Vincent Feguro of Barangay Ampayon. He allegedly produced five grams of shabu worth PHP34,000 on the black market.
The largest haul occurred on March 9, when suspect June Peter Racca yielded 60 grams of shabu worth PHP480,000 during a buy-bust operation in Barangay Libertad.
BIDA stands for "Buhay Ingatan, Droga'y Ayawan," a comprehensive anti-illegal drugs campaign launched by the Philippine National Police in collaboration with other government law enforcement agencies.
