The Mayon Volcano in Albay province, Bicol had a phreatic eruption on Sunday afternoon, February 5, according to the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS).
In a Facebook post, the state seismologist said its seismic record showed that the phreatic eruption occurred at 4:37 PM and it lasted for 4 minutes and 9 seconds.
The said eruption created a "booming sound, rockfall, pyroclastic density currents or PDC and 1,200-meter-tall plume that drifted to the southwest."
PHIVOLCS released video footage showing the white ashes coming from the Mayon Volcano's crater.
The Mayon Volcano remains at Alert Level 2 or moderate unrest.
The state seismologist reminded Albayanos to remain vigilant against possible ash fall, noting that phreatic eruption could happen without any warning.
Phivolcs reiterated that entry to the six-kilometer radius Permanent Danger Zone is still prohibited.
