Former child actor Bugoy Cariño and volleyball player EJ Laure are now engaged.
The actor proposed to Laure, 26, with whom he shares a child, during the celebration of his 21st birthday over the weekend.
"Itong babaeng 'to, papakasalan ko. Itong babeng 'to, mamahalin ko hanggang dulo," Bugoy began his proposal.
"EJ, mahal na mahal kita. Will you marry me?" he quipped. Without any second thoughts, EJ answered, "Yes," eliciting loud cheers from their family and friends.
It was in 2020 when the couple revealed that they already had a child. The revelation sparked various reactions from the netizens.
Bugoy, 18 at that time, defended EJ from bashers who called her out for having a relationship with a minor.
"Hindi n'yo po alam buong story namin. At least ako, kahit bata pa pinanindigan ko lahat ng responsibilidad ko at hindi ko po tinakbuhan," he said.
