Bureau of Correction (BuCor) Director General Gregorio Catapang Jr. has accepted the irrevocable resignation of Angelina Bautista as BuCor Executive Assistant IV - Officer.
In a statement on Tuesday, BuCor said Bautista tendered her resignation last August 11, citing that she no longer feels comfortable working due to the controversies and baseless accusations against her and BuCor.
The agency said Catapang ordered the former Executive Assistant to surrender all her government properties for clearance in adherence to the standard government procedure.
"Catapang also added that her resignation will not stop the investigation being conducted by the bureau to ferret out the truth and to also giver her a chance to defend and clear her name," BuCor said.
Last August 7, the BuCor Director General relieved Bautista as OIC-Director for Operations and Head Executive Assistant amidst a pending investigation into the allegations thrown against her.
Congressman Dan Fernandez earlier claimed that she is the alleged owner of the catering service that received P21 million for the food of Correctional Institution for Women (CIW) inmates.
In a brief statement, Bautista said that her resignation does not mean that she admitted the "malicious and unfounded issues" which incriminated her untainted years of public service.
"I wanted peace, not only for my family but for the entire BuCor. I wanted to leave proud, untainted, and uncorrupted corrupted, regardless of how people might perceive it," she said.
Bautista extended her gratitude to Catapang for giving her the opportunity to serve the bureau and the inmates.
