Two out of the seven BTS members are back!

On Thursday, October 17, K-Pop boy band member J-Hope was officially discharged from his 18-month-long mandatory military service in South Korea.

The Korean idol greeted fellow BTS member Jin and numerous cheering fans and media personnel with a radiant smile upon his release from a military base in Wonju, Gangwon province. Fans of the mega boy band wept for joy for the BTS rapper's long-awaited return.

J-Hope waved and gave his salutations to reporters and fans, expressing his deep appreciation for their support and love. Moreover, the idol also shared his realizations in the previous months. He recalled how soldiers in the military are making great efforts and sacrifices to protect the country.

Under South Korean Law, all able-bodied men under 30 are required to enlist in the military and train for 18 to 21 months. Special exemptions are granted for athletes and classical artists who excel in their respective fields and gain international recognition or national prestige.

The mandatory military service is due to South Korea's tension with North Korea.

J-Hope or Jung Ho-seok is the second BTS member to complete his mandatory military service, after the eldest member, Jin, who was discharged in June this year.

The remaining four members enlisted for the mandatory service in December 2023, and are expected to reunite as a group in 2025, following the completion of their duties.
