Kim Seok-Jin, popularly known as Jin of the K-pop supergroup BTS, is set to fulfill his mandatory military enlistment on December 13, the idol confirmed Thursday.

This comes after the report from Yonhap news agency revealed that he is scheduled to enlist as an active duty soldier on December 13 at a new recruit training center located in Yeoncheon, Gyeonggi-do before being deployed to a "frontline unit."

The 29-year-old singer made a subtle confirmation of the report through a short but sweet message to the ARMYs on WeVerse.

"Although an article I hoped wouldn’t be published was [released], ARMY, you can’t come to the training camp. There will be a lot of other people there besides me, and it might be dangerous due to the chaos. I love you, ARMY," he said as translated by Korean media outlet Soompi.

Prior to this news, Jin had hinted on social media that he had been assigned to the front line.

He will be the first member of the band to enlist in the military.

All able-bodied South Korean men under the age of 30 must perform about two years of military service, mainly because the country remains technically at war with nuclear-armed North Korea.

Their agency, HYBE, announced last month that BTS' members would carry out their mandatory military service, starting with Jin.

Jin recently released his highly-anticipated solo single "The Astronaut."
