The Bangsamoro Transition Authority (BTA) has approved the Bangsamoro Autonomy Act No. 86, establishing 32 single-member parliamentary districts for the 2026 Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) elections.

The measure, approved on January 20, 2026, sets the official district allocation that will be used in the region’s first regular parliamentary elections under the new configuration. The districts were adopted in line with Commission on Elections (COMELEC) Resolution No. 11199, which outlines the framework for the conduct of the 2026 BARMM Parliamentary Elections.

Under the Bangsamoro parliamentary system, the regional Parliament will be composed of 80 members: 32 district representatives elected from single-member districts, 40 party representatives chosen through proportional representation, and eight sectoral representatives representing marginalized and underrepresented groups.

The creation of the 32 districts aims to ensure equitable geographic representation across BARMM’s provinces, cities, and special geographic areas, while strengthening grassroots participation in the region’s parliamentary system of government.

COMELEC has urged registered voters in BARMM to verify their respective parliamentary districts to ensure orderly participation in the 2026 polls. The upcoming elections are seen as a crucial step in fully institutionalizing the Bangsamoro political structure following the transition period.
