The 10-day official campaign period for the synchronized Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan Elections (BSKE) has commenced today, Oct. 19.
In a video post on its social media page, the Commission on Election (Comelec) reminded BSKE bets to follow the election laws to avoid disqualification cases.
"Maglagay o magpaskil ng mga campaign materials sa designated Common Poster Areas at private property na may pahintulot ng may-ari," it said.
The list of common poster areas in provinces and cities can be found on Comelec's official Facebook page.
Illegal campaign material that will be displayed in public places will be subject to Oplan Baklas Operations, according to Comelec.
The poll body also reminded BSKE candidates to use "recyclable and environment-friendly campaign materials."
"Pwede ang online campaigning, sundin lamang ang mga alituntunin sa pagsasagawa nito, at limang piso bawat rehistradong botante sa barangay ang limitasyon sa gastusin ng kandidato," Comelec added.
BSKE bets are directed to submit their official Statements of Contributions and Expenditures (SOCE) on or before Nov. 30.
The campaign period will conclude on Oct. 28, and the official election day is scheduled for Oct. 30.
Based on the COMELEC task force Anti-Epal's data as of Oct. 17, two BSKE candidates were officially disqualified while the certificate of candidacy of three individuals was canceled.
Two other aspirants were declared as nuisance candidates.
