Several schools across Metro Manila have kicked off the nationwide Brigada Eskwela or the public school maintenance program on Monday, August 14.
With this year's theme "Bayanihan Para sa Matatag na Paaralan", both President Ferdinand 'Bongbong' Marcos Jr. and Vice President and Education Secretary Sara Duterte visited Victorino Mapa High School in San Miguel, Manila.
Marcos and Duterte led the inspection and helped in repainting of arm chairs at the school's classrooms.
The two top government officials likewise donated ₱1 million worth of funds as well as cleaning items and paint materials for Victorino Mapa High School.

Meanwhile, Malabon City Mayor Jeannie Sandoval personally visited the Malabon National Highschool to lead this year's Brigada Eskwela.

Interviewed by RH Edwin Duque, Malabon National Highschool Principal Maria Victoria Degulan said they are fully prepared for the opening of classes slated this August 29.
"In-expect namin na around 4,200 learners ang ating ma-enroll this year. Ang ating mga kwarto ay nililinis na ngayon ng ating mga stakeholders. Natutuwa kami at nagpapasalamat sa mga stakeholders na tumulong, at ito ay pinangunahan ng ating Mayor na si Jeannie Sandoval," she said.

The Batasan Hills National High School in Quezon City also kicked off the Brigada Eskwela.
In a report by RH Val Gonzales, Quezon City Mayor Joy Belmonte conducted an inspection around the Batasan Hills National High School.

Earlier, the Department of Education (DepEd) announced that the awarding of the best Brigada Eskwela to school heads and teachers have been suspended this year.
According to the revised Brigada Eskwela policy, all participating public elementary and secondary schools will be given certificates of appreciation for their participation and cooperation.
