MANILA – The Minister for Foreign Affairs of the Federative Republic of Brazil Mauro Vieira will undertake an official visit to the Philippines on 23 August 2024, marking the visit as the first ever by a Brazilian foreign minister since the establishment of diplomatic relations nearly 80 years ago.
In an announcement released by the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA), it confirmed that Minister Vieira and his delegation will be received by DFA Secretary Enrique Manalo.
“Philippine Secretary for Foreign Affairs, Hon. Enrique A. Manalo, will receive Minister Vieira and his delegation for a bilateral meeting, during which they will engage in discussions that will assess the current state of relations and consider opportunities to advance the relationship,” the DFA stated.

The DFA further mentioned that Manalo and Vieira are expected to exchange views on a range of issues, including trade and investments, technical cooperation, as well as cooperation in agriculture, defense, education and in the multilateral arena.
Agreements on the peaceful uses of outer space and education are expected to be signed as well, the DFA continued.
The DFA also underscored that both countries have intensified official engagements through the holding of high-level exchanges, such as the 6th Bilateral Consultation Meeting in 2023.
“Minister Vieira’s visit signifies the great importance both countries attach to the bilateral relationship,” the DFA said.
